Ingrid Bolivar is the ex-wife of the leader of La Gran Colombia. There is a inexplicable plague and people are dying. Ingrid is the only one who knows that the plague is carried by women of the streets. She adopts these impoverished young women and uses them as weapons against the government. Policarpa is a young girl, who carries the plague. She also has the unique ability to move objects and read minds. The plague inside her has evolved to give her awesome power. Ingrid decides that Policarpa will carry out the ultimate solution, an apocalypse. Policarpa, in the course of carrying out Ingrid’s plan, falls in love with General Valentia, in her youth the Joan of Arc of the Colombian guerrilleros, now a top government official. Falling in love causes Policarpa to rethink her actions and decide that instead of becoming the instrument of destruction, she will sacrifice her own self for love.see less
